Streaming Rights for Composers

ReelCrafter's free plan helps musical artists network remotely during COVID-19

Within the last few weeks, the world has been forced to confront the reality of a global spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We know this is a stressful time for many of our customers between health concerns, production halts in the entertainment industry, and the cancelation of important professional events like GDC, SXSW, and the ASCAP Experience.

Between the setback of canceled gigs and lost networking opportunities, we’ve also seen some really creative and powerful collaboration happening in our industry: virtual music lessons, live stream concerts, remote recording sessions, and Zoom video “coffee” chats. Musicians are an incredibly tight-knit group, and we believe that keeping connected via technology will keep us stronger as we all navigate any rough waters ahead. Our goal right now is to stay healthy and continue supporting the community and our customers in any way we can.

On that note, ReelCrafter will be offering two ways to help people during these challenging times:

First, to support musical artists who are kick-starting their careers, we’re reopening our free plan today to new users. There are no expectations to upgrade, no strings attached. Free accounts will have the following limitations:

  • 20 tracks
  • 1 reel
  • 1 live share link
  • No tracking
  • No web embeds

This is enough for anyone to put together one good general demo reel and send it out to potential clients. The free plan will be presented as an option at the end of a new 21-day free trial.

Second, if you’d like to have your demo reel critiqued by an industry professional (e.g., composer, agent, music supervisor), let us know, and if there's enough demand, we’ll see if we can track down some folks who can help you tighten up your reel and make it shine.

Finally, please take advantage of the various Facebook groups geared towards our community of composers and other musical artists. Here are a few you can join:

We hope you’re all staying safe and healthy. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
